What is EASE UP?
Researchers at the University of Alabama and the University of Pittsburgh are comparing the effectiveness of two therapies, the Emotion Awareness and Skills Enhancement (EASE) Program and Unified Protocol (UP). Both therapies were developed to help people manage their emotions, and both involve 16 therapy sessions. Sessions can be in-person or telehealth with providers from our partnering community mental health clinics.
We are now enrolling autistic teens and young adults between the ages of 12 and 25, living in Alabama or Pennsylvania, who have difficulty with managing emotions. If you choose to be in the study, you will be assigned to either EASE or UP. You will be responsible for paying for therapy, but financial support is available. You will be compensated for completing surveys and interviews associated with the study. Researchers at The University of Alabama are partnering with:
