SENSE

Three students in a theatre production
Researchers at the University of Alabama and the Center for Youth Development and Intervention (CYDI) are studying the effects of two treatments developed for youth with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Participants are randomly assigned to two treatments:
SENSE Theater is a performance-based intervention targeting social skills that includes trained peer actors and theater techniques.
Tackling Teenage Training is an education program that involves teaching youth with ASD about psychological, social and sexual development.
Eligible participants with have ASD or are suspected to have ASD and are between the ages of 10-16 years old.
Research components: Treatment is at no cost to you and involves research visits before and after treatment, psychological testing (2 hours), social interaction (10 minutes), research EEG (1 hour), treatment takes place over 10 Saturdays and participation in research is required for treatment.
